What is here? Here.fm is a website and app that describes itself as 'a fun, quirky, and personalized virtual meeting space.' Founded in 2020 with a $2.9 million seed round, Here offers a new way to communicate with friends and strangers online. The most similar app I can think of to compare Here to is Discord; only instead of servers, you have rooms. Each room has a page you can move around with interactive media, as well as a main chat. Like Discord, it has video chat, direct messages, screen share DMs and profiles. There are a lot of notable differences, though. How it worksHere's a quick summary of how it works: you create a 'room' (similar to a server). You now have a virtual space where you can add a background and decorate it with GIFs and text, or just choose a ready-made template. You can also add interactive embedded media including a Youtube video or playlist, Twitch stream and games like Scribble.io, chess and Connect 4. There are also public rooms you can join. Each room has a main chat box, and you can add other ones as well. Other things you can add include, but are not limited to, a drawing board, to-do list, timer stopwatch and poll. Each room has a link you can share with friends so they can join. As the host, you can control other members' permissions, including mic, camera and notifications. As I said, there are also public rooms, but this is still in beta. The obvious problem with this is that people might abuse this and there are no real age restrictions, but you can moderate the room by adding others as hosts, banning, kicking and reporting other members. |
Where you can Download regular gradients
If you find that none of these websites work for you, here are some more sites where you can create regular linear or radial gradients without noise. You can then add a grainy texture overlay from websites like transparenttextures.com or Canva to create the grainy effect.
I'll admit it- I'm not a particularly organised person. Before lockdown, I barely used my planner, and when I did, I usually didn't refer to it afterwards. But after seven months of online school, I've stepped things up. Here is my super simple and synced organisational system that you can use to boost your productivity and plan your day, week or month.
Google Calendar
Maybe I'm late to the game, but I'd never fully utilised the practicality of Google Calendar. It became particularly useful when it came to my online classes- I added the times of each my classes so I could easily see how much time before my next class and add notifications. I added a separate calendar for school events and you can also add what week of the term/semester it is as events. You can colour-code events, so you can easily label them by subject. The school days seems to blend into the rest of the day during online learning, so Google Calendar was super helpful in structuring my day.

Google Tasks
Google Tasks is basically a simple to-do list (which is a good thing), but with a more perks than your regular reminders app. You can add dates to your tasks, which will then automatically appear on your calendar. Your tasks can be recurring, too. You can add tasks to different lists (like Personal and School). Google Tasks can be opened within Google Calendar and Gmail on PC. To open it as a standalone app, download this Chrome extension. To use it on a phone or tablet, you have to download a separate app. However, your existing scheduled tasks will show up on the Google Calendar app.

Google Keep
I use this less than the other two apps, but it's still useful for writing short notes. You can add images and drawings, change the colour, add labels and collaborators, pin, and archive your notes. You can also add a mini checklist to your notes. It is possible to make your notes into reminders by adding a time, which will then show up on your calendar. However, they are only shown on PC and not the Google Calendar app, so you'd have to download the separate Google Keep app. So, if you are going to add a time to your note, I recommend putting it on Google Tasks instead. Download the Google Keep Chrome extension here.

One of the main useful aspect about these apps are they sync on all devices and they are clear and easy to use. This is by no mean only for online school, and I will probably continue this system into the future. What do you think of these apps? Let me know if you plan to use them, and what system you already find useful. Thanks for reading and bye :)
