If you've been browsing other people's Notion set-ups on Pinterest and wondering, 'How do they make it so pretty?' then you're in the right place. Here are some very simple ways to enhance the appearance of your pages without using formulas.
Images from Pinterest
Inserting images from Pinterest is one of the easiest ways to make your pages aesthetic. It also helps break up your pages where there is a lot of text.
Spotify Playlists
Embed your favourite playlists or podcasts from Spotify to access them straight from Notion.
Steps: Click the three dots nest to the playlist/podcast name >> Share >> Embedded playlist >> Copy >> Go to Notion and insert embedded block >> paste the code. Custom Icons
You can set the icon of your page to one of your choosing instead of an emoji.
Steps: Click add icon on top of your Notion page >> Click on the emoji >> Upload and image >> Choose and image. You can download free icons from websites such as flaticon.com. GIFs
You can use GIFs the same way as images. Use them as a page cover, icon or to decorate your page. Download GIFs for free at giphy.com, where you can filter between GIFs and stickers. Stickers are perfect for using as a page icon on Notion.
Custom Fonts
Use a font generator such as lingojam.com to copy and paste custom fonts into Notion. You can then colour the text and add a background on Notion like regular text.
Coloured Boxes
If you've seen my Notion templates, then you'll know that I use coloured boxes a lot. To create one, add a toggle, choose a background colour and drag whatever blocks you want inside. Then, click where it says Toggle at the top of the box and backspace. The toggle arrow should now be gone, leaving only the blocks you dragged inside.
Coloured Divider Bars
Select a blank text block and add a background colour to create a simple divider.
Custom Dividers
Lose the boring, default Notion divider and use images instead. Here are some free dividers you can download: lariniehl.gumroad.com.
Quotes
You can use the quote block on Notion, which creates a vertical line next to the text. You can then change the size (default, large) of the text and the colour of the text, line and background. I, personally, don't like how the quote block looks, so you can use a callout block to add a quote instead. The main difference between the text block and the callout box is that the former has an emoji the left. Like other places on Notion, you can replace the emoji with a GIF or image of your own.
Widgets
Widgets are one the most fun ways to make your Notion look aesthetic as well as improving it's functionality. I collected a bunch of websites that have more than 100 widgets to choose from!
I hope you found this post useful! Feel free to comment other tips I can add to this list and let me know what else you'd like to see on the blog.
