If you've ever read my blog, you'd know that Notion is my holy grail. You can do countless things with it, and for school, it's perfect for notes, schedules, plans and more.I started using Notion during the era of online learning and since then, I’ve figured out my preferred way to revise for exams. Hopefully, this works out for you too!
In this guide, I've included steps to make your own Notion revision template. You can get the template for free here. 1. Revise
Add each topic you need to study to a database. Tick them off with a checkbox property as you revise them or add a Status property to track your understanding.
2. Study plan
After you’ve revised your notes and feel prepared to do practice questions, make a database with all your practice papers like the one below.
I deleted the Tags property and added a Checkbox, Number and Date property, sorted the database by Date ascending, and added a Calendar view. Add the date you plan to complete each practice paper, as well as the date of the real exam. You can add a reminder so you get a notification on the day. 3. Practice
Create a list of toggles like this.
As you correct practice papers, add the information you got wrong as a bullet point under the relevant topic. You can also add diagrams and tables.
This way, you make notes only based on things you don’t know, and you can read through this to consolidate the correct answers. If one topic has a lot of dot points, you should revise it.
Using these notes, you can make flashcards or use a website like gizmo.ai. Gizmo is an AI-powered site and app where you copy and paste sentences from your notes and it creates flashcards for you, and you practice them with spaced repetition. It’s super easy to use and fast, as you don’t need to write questions and answers. Guest post by Niall Sherwell, productivityacceleration.com In today's fast-paced academic environment, productivity is crucial for success in high school and university. Juggling classes, assignments, extracurricular activities, and personal life can be overwhelming. As a student myself, I understand how overwhelming life can get. By mastering productivity techniques, we can not only excel academically but also maintain a healthy work-life balance. Balance is extremely important; I try to prioritise my mental health while also dedicating enough time to my studies, this is something I would encourage for all students. This article aims to address key questions related to student productivity and provide practical tips and techniques to help students make the most of their time and efforts. The Importance of Productivity for StudentsProductivity is essential because it enables us to maximise learning outcomes while effectively managing time. I have found that through productivity, I can accomplish more in less time, leaving room for personal development and leisure activities. Several factors can affect student productivity, including motivation and time management, but also having an effective learning environment, or even having good mental and physical health. By addressing these factors, we can significantly improve productivity and overall performance. In summary, I have found that these are the main benefits:
Key Productivity Techniques for Students
Top Productivity Tips for Students 1. Track Your Time Tracking time is necessary so that we can see how we spend our time and consequently pinpoint areas for improvement. It also promotes accountability and encourages us to be more efficient with our time management. This is made easier with time tracking apps like Toggl or RescueTime to monitor activities. Analysing the collected data can help identify time-wasting habits so that we can make necessary adjustments to improve productivity. 2. Take Regular Breaks Use regular breaks to help refresh your mind, reduce stress, and maintain focus. Short breaks will likely improve your concentration, and longer breaks can provide opportunities for relaxation and rejuvenation. Techniques like the Pomodoro Technique, can be extremely useful for maintaining focus - it has worked wonders for me. 3. Set Deadlines and Plan Ahead Deadlines and planning are vital tools to help us to stay on track and prioritise tasks. Effective planning will reduces stress as it helps us to be clear about how we plan to move forward. Using planners, to-do lists, or digital tools like Google Calendar to set deadlines and plan tasks are all effective ways that people I know have utilised. It's essential to allocate sufficient time for each task and include buffer time for unforeseen circumstances. 4. Create a Balanced Lifestyle A balanced lifestyle, including proper nutrition and sufficient sleep, plays a vital role in maintaining energy levels and focus throughout the day. Never forget that you are at your best when your mental and physical health are optimal. Prioritise eating healthy meals, exercising, and establish some regular sleep patterns to maximise your productivity. It's also important to set boundaries between study and leisure time to avoid burnout and maintain mental well-being. Overcoming Distractions and ProcrastinatioN
ConclusionIn conclusion, mastering productivity is essential for us to excel academically, but also to enjoy a healthy work-life balance. Try to overcome distractions and procrastination, and significantly improve your focus and performance. Remember, productivity is a skill that can be learned and refined over time.
