Canva is an amazing tool used to create and edit images and graphics. A free plan has enough features, but with a pro plan, you can take your editing and efficiency to the next level. Here's what a Canva Pro plan has to offer:
Here's how I got Canva Pro for one whole year, valued at $119, for free. I'll also tell you how I got access to a whole load of other freebies and discounts. To access the Canva Pro and some other websites and programs for free, you need to have a student email. A student email typically contains 'edu', and is issued by a school, university or other educational institutes. The first thing you need to is got to education.github.com/pack and click on 'Get the Pack'. It's pretty straight forward from there. You'll be asked to fill in a form about you and your institute, and you may be asked to provide a Student ID. After you submit the form, it should take less than a day or two for you to receive confirmation. After that, you'll get a long list of services, that you can use for free, with a trial or until you graduate. Then just click on the service you'd like to activate. Press Ctrl+F and so you can search for the service you're looking for. The GitHub Student Developer Pack give you exclusive access to heaps of tool, focused on giving you the tools that you need so you can develop anything you imagine. You can get free domains, learn computer languages like Python and JavaScript and send automated emails, which makes the pack pretty useful for bloggers, too. But if you're just here for Canva, that's okay. Find Canva on the list, and click the link on the panel, or just click here. If you already have an account that's not associated with your student email, your current account can be used to upgrade to Canva Pro. That's it! Leave a comment and enjoy your 12 months of free Canva Pro.
Follow me on Instagram, Pinterest and Twitter! What Are Carrds?Carrd.co is a website you can use to make simple, free, one-page sites for pretty much anything. You can make anything from landing pages to personal profiles, and it doesn't take long to get the hang of it. You may have seen some of these floating around Twitter of various topics or accounts. Here are some examples of what yours could look like! How you can use carrdsCarrd can also be used as a substitute to Linktree, as the sites are mobile-friendly, or as an 'about me' page. Carrd is also super handy for sharing links and resources in a matter of minutes. You can also post it to your Twitter and pin the tweet so people can easily access your other social profiles, or put the link in your Instagram bio. Here is a simple Carrd I made that has links to my blog and other socials. Part of the appeal of Carrds is the aesthetic, and there are plenty of tutorials on Youtube on how to create different styles. You don't need much past experience or any knowledge of HTML to make something a bit more elaborate with Carrd, so it's suitable to all skill levels. If you're not sure what style to go for, look for some inspiration. Getting StartedThe first thing you need to do before you make your Carrd is decide what you want to make it about. Is it going to be a social profile or about a particular topic or person? Make sure to jot down any ideas you have so you can decide with one is the best. Next, choose what style you want to have. Some people design their Carrd to look like an Instagram feed or Tumblr post. Minimalism is quite popular too. Also, decide what colour theme you'd like to have. You might want to choose an aesthetic, like grunge, soft/pastel or artistic. Once you have an idea of what you'd like you're Carrd to look like, click on Choose a Starting Point. With a free Carrd account, you can make up to three sites. You can choose from a variety of templates or you can start from scratch. With templates, you can always delete elements, so it's a good place to start if you don't know what layout you'd like. One you've chosen a template, click on the elements to edit them and a tab will open of the side. Click around and experiment to get the hang of it. To add new elements, click on the the + icon on the top-right corner. Most of the elements are pretty self-explanatory. The Control element can be used of you want to put elements on a different part of the same site, so they won't be visible until you click on a button or link. When you create a button or link, you can choose to link to that control to show the elements below it. Click on the phone icon to see how your site would look on mobile, and click the save button to publish your site and choose your URL. With a free account, you can get a domain ending in carrd.co. There are hundreds of ways you could design your Carrd, and it doesn't take too long. Remember, YouTube tutorials are a great place to start. Let me know in the comments what you thought of this website. Want to create a link-in-bio site faster and easier? Read my post on Beacons.ai!
